Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes
Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.
Normally Ulster University welcomes applications from students with:
Qualifications
- Students must have passed their Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) (Gymnasium A/B and Atheneum A/B) Diplomas with a Grade of 7 or above.
OR
- Students must have passed their HBO Propedeuse with a Grade of 7 or above.
OR
- Students must have passed their MBO Middelbaar Beroepsonderwijs diploma with a Grade of 7 or above (Only awarded up to 1999).
OR
- Students must have passed their MBO Middenkaderopleiding (Level 4) with a Grade of 7 or above (Only awarded up to 1999).
- Students who have passed the Hoger Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs (HAVO) diploma / Senior general secondary education will need to pass a recognised UK Foundation/Access Course.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes
Typically we require applicants for taught programmes to hold the equivalent of a UK first degree (usually in a relevant subject area). Please refer to the specific entry requirements for your chosen course of study as outlined in the online prospectus. We consider students who have good grades in the following:
Qualifications
- Students must hold a Getuigschrift Hoger Beroepsonderwijs (HBO) (Higher Professional Education Diploma) or Kandidaatsexamen/Bachelors Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum overall average of 7.

English Language Entry Requirements
Normally the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5).
Some of our courses ask for a higher score.
If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please check the list of other accepted tests
Scholarship support
We offer a range of scholarships for international students applying to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, based at our Northern Ireland locations.

*Scholarships are not cumulative; only one scholarship may be used per application.

Assessment
All international applicants are automatically assessed for Scholarships. No separate application is required.
Scholarship eligibility is assessed at the point an offer is made. Where applicable, awards will be confirmed in updated offer letters.

GCSE Math requirements
- Must have achieved a Grade 7 or above in Maths as part of the Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO).
