Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes

Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.

Normally Ulster University welcomes applications from students with:

Qualifications

  • Students must hold one of the following qualifications with an overall average of 7/12 or 9/13 or above.
    • Bevis for Studentereksamen (2nd Education Graduation Cert)
    • Bevis for Højere Handelseksamen (HHX)/ Bevis for Højere Teknisk Eksamen (HTX)
    • Bevis for Højere Forberedelseseksamen (HF)
    • Korte Videregående Uddannelser (KVU) / (AK) (Short-Cycle Professional Higher Education Diploma (AP))

For advanced entry to an Undergraduate Degree Programme:

  • If students have completed 1-2 years of their Bachelors Degree in a relevant subject with an overall average of 9 or above they may be considered (at the School’s discretion) for advanced entry.

OR

  • A student with 7/12 or 9/13 in the Korte Videregående Uddannelser (KVU) / (AK) (Short-Cycle Professional Higher Education Diploma (AP)) and who have covered the relevant syllabus may be considered (at the School’s discretion) for advanced entry.
  • Grading System (Since 2006/07): Ranges from -3 to 12 with 4 being the minimum pass mark and 12 given for exceptional performance.
  • Grading System (Prior to 2006/07): Ranges from 0 to 13 with 6 being the minimum pass mark and 13 given for exceptional performance.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes

Typically we require applicants for taught programmes to hold the equivalent of a UK first degree (usually in a relevant subject area). Please refer to the specific entry requirements for your chosen course of study as outlined in the online prospectus. We consider students who have good grades in the following:

English Language Entry Requirements

Normally the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5).

Some of our courses ask for a higher score.

If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.

We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please check the list of other accepted tests

Assessment

All international applicants are automatically assessed for Scholarships. No separate application is required.

Scholarship eligibility is assessed at the point an offer is made. Where applicable, awards will be confirmed in updated offer letters.

GCSE Math requirements

  • Students must also provide evidence that they satisfy the requirements for Maths (i.e. equivalent to a Grade C/4 in GCSE.
  • For students presenting Danish qualifications, they must have a minimum average of 7/12 or 9/13 in Maths as part of the Folkeskolens 10 Klasseprøve / Folkeskolens Afgangsprøve (10th Form Advanced Leaving Examination) (i.e GCSE equivalent). (10/12 or 11/13 for courses requiring GCSE Grade B/C*/6).
