Entry requirements for foundation courses
Qualifications
- Alim (awarded by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, Dhaka) with 50% overall to include a pass in 5 subjects.
OR
- Higher Secondary School Cert with 50% overall to include a pass in 5 subjects.
OR
- Intermediate Certificate with 50% overall to include a pass in 5 subjects.
Note: 50% or above required in Maths for Life and Health Sciences and Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment courses.
Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes
Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.
Normally Ulster University welcomes applications from students with:
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Higher secondary certificate with 70% overall. Please note we cannot accept HSC from Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).
OR
- Successful completion of Alim (awarded by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, Dhaka) with 70% overall.
OR
- Successful completion of 2 years of an undergraduate degree with 50% or above.
OR
- Successful completion of 4 year Diploma in Engineering or Agriculture from Bangladesh Technical Education Board with overall 75%.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes
Typically we require applicants for taught programmes to hold the equivalent of a UK first degree (usually in a relevant subject area). Please refer to the specific entry requirements for your chosen course of study as outlined in the online prospectus. We consider students who have good grades in the following:
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Masters degree
- 2:1 - 60%
- 2:2 - 50%
- Successful completion of a 4-year Bachelors degree course, from an ECCTIS recognised institution
- 2:1-65%
- 2:2-60%
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (5 years)

English Language Entry Requirements
Normally the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5).
Some of our courses ask for a higher score.
If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please check the list of other accepted tests
Scholarship support
We offer a range of scholarships for international students applying to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, based at our Northern Ireland locations.

Standard Country Scholarship* | £4,000 | Applicants who have achieved the entry requirements for the programme. |
*Scholarships are not cumulative; only one scholarship may be used per application.

Assessment
All international applicants are automatically assessed for Scholarships. No separate application is required.
Scholarship eligibility is assessed at the point an offer is made. Where applicable, awards will be confirmed in updated offer letters.
