Entry requirements for undergraduate programmes
Each programme will have slightly different requirements, both in terms of overall points and certain subjects, so please check the relevant subject in the undergraduate on-line prospectus.
Normally Ulster University welcomes applications from students with:
Qualifications
- Certificat d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur
OR
- The Diploma van Hoger Secundair Onderwijs
OR
- The Abschlusszuegnis der Oberstufe des Sekundarunterrichts with a minimum overall average of 6/10 or 12/20 or 60% with ‘mention’.
OR
- “Gegradueerde (from 2009)” or “Kandidaat” with an average of 60% may also be considered.
OR
- International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points (including at least 15 points at the higher level and a minimum of 4 points in English (in which case students are exempt from IELTS/TOEFL) and 4 points in Maths (for those course which require it).
OR
- European Baccalaureate with an overall score of 70% or above in all subjects.

Entry requirements for postgraduate programmes
Typically we require applicants for taught programmes to hold the equivalent of a UK first degree (usually in a relevant subject area). Please refer to the specific entry requirements for your chosen course of study as outlined in the online prospectus. We consider students who have good grades in the following:
Qualifications
- Students must have successfully passed their Bachelor (from 2004 onwards)
OR
- Licentiaat/ Licencié and other two cycle diplomas with average grades of 60% (met onderscheiding/avec distinction) or above.

English Language Entry Requirements
Normally the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5).
Some of our courses ask for a higher score.
If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please check the list of other accepted tests
Scholarship support
We offer a range of scholarships for international students applying to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, based at our Northern Ireland locations.

*Scholarships are not cumulative; only one scholarship may be used per application.

Assessment
All international applicants are automatically assessed for Scholarships. No separate application is required.
Scholarship eligibility is assessed at the point an offer is made. Where applicable, awards will be confirmed in updated offer letters.

GCSE Math Requirement
Achieve at least a 6/10 or 12/20 or 60% with ‘mention’ in Maths as part of the Certificat d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieur OR the Diploma van Hoger Secundair Onderwijs OR the Abschlusszuegnis der Oberstufe des Sekundarunterrichts. (Need 7/10 or 14/20 or 70% in Maths for courses requiring GCSE Grade B/C*/6).
