Whether this is your first time coming to university, or you are returning for further study, it is important to understand what funding support is available for both tuition fees and daily living costs.

Funding at a glance

This information is based on student's resident in Northern Ireland, funding may differ in other areas, please speak with your local funding provider for more information.

  • Undergraduate Study

    (Non-nursing) Students completing a degree for the first time, can access Tuition Fee and Maintenance support for the duration of their course, plus one 'Gift Year'. A gift year provides funding should you need to repeat a year in full or in part.

    Nursing courses are fully commissioned, meaning whether you study nursing as a first degree, or second, your fees will be covered, and you will have access to a Nursing Bursary.

  • Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) Funding

    Students wishing to complete a PGCE for the first time can access Tuition Fee and Maintenance Support for their year of study.

  • Postgraduate Funding

    Students wishing to complete postgraduate study for the first time (PG Cert / PG Diploma / Masters), can access Tuition Fee loan support only. This is in addition to PGCE Funding. Please see the postgraduate option below for information on PHD funding.

  • Integrated Masters

    Students completing an Integrated Master's degree can access Tuition Fee and Maintenance support for the duration of their course, plus one 'Gift Year'. A gift year provides funding should you need to repeat a year in full or in part. Students will start first year at level 4 undergraduate, and upon completion, be awarded a Master's Degree in their chosen subject. Students who complete this type of programme cannot access further 'Postgraduate Funding'.
