Before you arrive on campus
As you prepare for your first day, there’s a few really important things you need to do before you arrive….
Enrolment Instructions
Check your personal email account now for an email from Ulster with a link to your enrolment instructions. Make a note of your Student ID number (e.g. B00123456) as you’ll need this to complete your enrolment.
It’s essential to complete your enrolment before you arrive so follow the instructions, upload your photo and make a note of your UU email address and network password.
Keep an eye on your enrolment instructions for details about your course induction and timetable.
Start With Success
When you first arrive at Ulster, you may be thinking, "How do I do that?", "Where should I be?" or Is there anyone who I can ask for help. Don’t worry—these questions are totally normal!
Before your first day, complete the Start with Success pre-induction.
This takes you through your first day, week, month and year and is packed with info, advice and tips on what to expect when you arrive, getting settled in, the tech support available, what assessment and feedback looks like and how to maintain a good work/life balance.
Get Connected to IT
You don’t want to spend your first day on campus trying to login and struggling to connect to Wi-Fi. Get connected before you arrive with our easy to follow IT Guide Getting Started IT Guide.
Please note the steps must be carried out on a PC or laptop instead of your phone as it is needed for Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) setup. We recommend your IT setup is completed before you access other systems such as timetables and BlackBoard.
When you do get to campus, if you have any questions about IT, our team are ready to help you. Look out for the red t-shirts!

Your First Day on Campus
The big day has finally arrived and you get to campus. Here’s what to do….
Collect Your Student ID Card
When you know the date and time of your course induction, plan to arrive on campus a couple of hours earlier.
Your first stop is Registration to register and collect your student ID card. Unfortunately without this, you’ll not be able to get around campus.

Induction
It’s important to be on time to your induction so plan your journey before you arrive and remember to leave a couple of hours beforehand to collect your student ID and get your bearings.
You might feel nervous about finding your way around but there is no need. Look out for anyone wearing a blue hoodie, they are the UU Campus Ambassadors and are there to help you with any questions you have.
Timetable
Get organised and start planning your week. You can download your timetable from Semester timetables

International Students
If you are an International student you’ll take part in our International Orientation Programme.
This is a range of live information sessions and in-person social activities designed to provide you with information and advice, and to ensure that you receive all the support required to get the best from your time here at Ulster, beginning at the very start of your studies.
Welcome to UU Stand
When you collect your student ID card and have time either before or after induction, make a stop at the Welcome to UU stand. Meet the support teams and have a go at spinning our prize wheel.
Any questions you have, just ask.
Getting around campus
Navigating your way about campus might seem daunting but it will all soon become second nature. Check out our interactive campus maps which will keep you right in your first few weeks.
Your Student ID Card is your key to accessing all areas so make sure to have it with you at all times! And remember, while you have a home campus, all our campuses and their facilities are open to all Ulster University students.
Simply check in at the main reception to update your student access cards.
Stay Safe
Your safety on and off campus is our priority. We want you to understand how to stay safe, how to protect your property and how to be a good neighbour; so we’ve teamed up with PSNI to give you some guidance. Here are some useful tips:
- Familiarise yourself with the local area as soon as you can
- Build relationships with your flat mates and swap mobile phone numbers
- Find out where your local police station and hospital are and save the police non-emergency number 101 in your phone
- Save the numbers of reputable taxi firms in your phone
Have Fun!
You will never forget your first first as a uni student so dive straight in, get involved in as many activities as possible, meet new people and have a go at some of the organised activities.
Capture the moment with a selfie in front of our Welcome Stand, giant UU letters and our special dazzler walls. If you are wondering what's happening on our other campuses, take a peek through our UU Portal and say hi.
