Based in the city of Antigua, our volunteer programme in Guatemala lets you volunteer at a local school, teaching English in the mornings and joining group Spanish classes in the afternoons.
Programme Summary
- You will support English lessons in schools and community centres, helping students who may not otherwise access or afford classes. A short TEFL course is included before you begin teaching.
- All Ulster volunteers take Spanish lessons Monday to Friday to improve communication with local people.
- Accommodation in Antigua is either with a local host family or in a Volunteer House. Both offer comfortable living conditions and shared rooms.
- To help you get to know the rest of your team from Ulster and to explore the local area, the programme will include a half day Volcano Tour during your first weekend in-country. Please note, a moderate fitness level is recommended.
