You don’t need a large collection of spices and seasonings to get started. Just a handful of essentials can make a huge difference. Here is a list of basic spices and seasonings that are cheap, versatile, and will last you a long time:
The most basic and essential seasoning, bringing out the flavours of your ingredients. A little goes a long way, so be sure to season your food as you cook and taste along the way.
Adds a little heat and flavour to almost anything. Freshly ground black pepper is ideal, but pre-ground works too if you're on a budget.

Combine cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper or chilli powder. This blend is perfect for tacos, burritos, fajitas, and chillis
Mix garlic powder and mixed herbs for roasted vegetables, chicken, and pasta.
Blend curry powder or cumin with chili powder or cayenne pepper make the base spices of curry.
