As graduate recruitment becomes an increasingly competitive market, organisations are engaging with students earlier in their student experience each year. This year we have seen an increase in student internships advertised to our first year students and as such, we commenced semester two of the academic year with two Internship Insight Events for the IT and Business sector.

The events were an opportunity for first year students  to gather information about 2018 internships from organisations who are currently recruiting within these sectors and to gain an insight into these industries early on in their employability journey.

Employers who attended the Internship Insight Events and showcased their opportunities were Allstate, Citi, Deloitte Digital and Kainos for IT and Allstate, Citi, FinTru and EY for business.

Internships are a fantastic way for businesses to invigorate their workforce with a two or three month flexible project-based position. It also allows employers the opportunity to engage with students who they would like to offer placement opportunities and graduate opportunities to in the near future.

"Although FinTrU has run long-term internships successfully in the past, short-term internships are a relatively new venture for us.

We were delighted to attend the Internship Insights event at Ulster University, and FinTrU relished the opportunity to engage with first-year students.

Internships are invaluable as they provide an excellent opportunity for students to understand what it is like to work in a professional environment. FinTrU hopes to instil a passion for financial services through its internship programme”.
