The University Portal is a personalised gateway to many of the online services provided by the University, including email, our online library services, and Blackboard Learn, the web-based learning environment.
Once you are logged into the Portal, you can access all these services without the need to enter further usernames and passwords. The Portal also acts as a point of focus for messages sent to you by your faculty and announcements from other University departments.
The Portal can be accessed via the Web or, if you are on campus, via the Portal icon on the student desktop.
Library resources on the Portal can be found on the Learning Resources tab. Most of these resources are available to registered users either on or off campus using any computer with a connection to the Internet and so are of particular relevance to our part-time and distance learning students.
Assistance is always available to support you in making full use of the library facilities. You can ask for help at our Information Points or you can contact the Subject Librarians who support your faculty.
Information skills classes will be arranged to introduce you to the resources you need. We have also developed online Library Induction and Information Skills Units to enable you to learn about our resources at your own pace.
An introductory guide describing all of our services and containing all staff contact details is freely available from each library.
