Student Opportunity Fund

Scholarships are available for eligible students to ease financial pressures, unlock life-changing travel opportunities, enhance their academic journey, or help them achieve their sporting ambitions.

About this opportunity

The Ulster University Student Opportunity Fund is open to all students, across our Northern Ireland campuses, studying full and part-time. It offers financial support and scholarships to:

  • Enhance the academic experience for students with the ability and drive to fulfil their potential, especially those from low-income families.
  • Reward our most talented and committed students to help them achieve their sporting ambitions.
  • Create opportunities for life-changing international travel.
  • Remove the need for students to work part-time to finance their study.

The Student Opportunity Fund invites applications once a year.

  • Applications open: Monday 25 September 2023
  • Deadline for applications: Midday Friday 13 October 2023
  • Scholarships available: 
    • Academic Opportunity Scholarship (full-time undergraduate students),
    • Academic Opportunity Scholarship (part-time undergraduate students),
    • Travel Opportunity Scholarship and Performance Sport Scholarship (open to undergraduate and postgraduates).

    These scholarships are not applicable to students studying at UU branch campuses outside of Northern Ireland.

Academic Opportunity Scholarship 2023 (Full-Time Undergraduate Student)

This scholarship provides additional financial support to a full-time undergraduate student from a disadvantaged background who has demonstrated a commitment to Ulster and has the drive to succeed.

This scholarship  provides additional financial support to help a part-time undergraduate student from a lower income family to undertake an undergraduate course at Ulster University.

This scholarship provides a talented sportsperson with additional financial support to help them achieve their sporting potential. This Scholarship is jointly funded by UU Sport and UU Student Opportunity Fund.
