Dr Jeremy Hamilton is a Research Fellow in the Engineering Research Institute based at the Nanotechnology and Integrated BioEngineering Centre (NIBEC). His research activities involve the development of nanomaterials for both new and existing applications by tailoring properties to meet specific performance requirements. The majority of his postdoctoral research has been directed at utilising photo-activated titanium dioxide thin film coatings for humanitarian applications.

Example include materials for: the solar removal of CO2; water purification; removal of persistent pollutants such as cyano-toxins; medical diagnostic platforms; self-cleaning medical surfaces; photocatalytic removal of prions from surgical tool and photocatalytic coatings on polymer surfaces for medical device applications. Jeremy acts as a consultant to local and international companies and regularly takes part in commercialisation projects.

Jeremy obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Biochemical science from Ulster University 2000 before completing a PhD in 2004 at the same institution.
