Ulster University’s Centre for Legal Technology (CLT) is proud to announce a groundbreaking research and innovation partnership with Lawri AI, a Northern Ireland–based legal technology startup. This collaboration aims to transform the conveyancing process through responsible, cutting-edge artificial intelligence.

Led by John Keers BL, Director of the CLT, the initiative will explore how AI and automation can streamline property transactions—improving efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility in one of the most complex areas of legal practice.

The project will focus on key areas such as:

  • Legal data modelling
  • Ethical and responsible AI deployment
  • Enhanced user experience for legal professionals and clients

The partnership also includes opportunities for student involvement, industry feedback, and cross-sector knowledge exchange, reinforcing Ulster University's commitment to practical, impactful legal innovation.

Emma Fox, CEO of Lawri AI, shared her enthusiasm:

“With over two decades of experience in legal practice in Northern Ireland, my brother and I founded Lawri to bring responsible, real-world innovation to the legal profession—starting with the residential conveyancing market. We’re excited to collaborate with the Centre for Legal Technology at Ulster University. Their academic expertise will help us refine and strengthen our product to deliver smarter, more reliable property transactions.”

John Keers added:

“We’re thrilled to be working with Emma and the Lawri team on what is one of the most ambitious LegalTech projects to emerge from Northern Ireland.

This partnership exemplifies how universities can drive responsible innovation and how local startups are leading the charge to modernise legal services. Together, we’re reimagining what conveyancing could look like in a digital-first legal system.”

This pioneering collaboration marks a significant step forward in bridging legal expertise with emerging technology, positioning Northern Ireland as a hub for LegalTech innovation.
