Meet Coleraine Arts and Stage Society

Where is the Arts and Stage Society society based, and how often do you meet?

We are based in Coleraine with rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and some other events scheduled outside of regular hours such as karaoke nights or quizzes in the SU Bar.

How long has the society been running?

I have been a part of it for 3 years, however it has been running for much much longer.

Who can join?

Students of Ulster University can join as Members. We also have Associate Members who do not have to study at ulster, such as alumni or members of the community.

What inspired you to set up your own society?

I was inspired by previous committees, and after being Secretary for the 2024/25 Academic Year I decided that I should step up and take on the role of Chairperson for the 2025/26 year!

What sort of things do you do in your society?

We put on a showcase at the end of the year (around March) where our members perform numbers from a variety of musicals and other pop-culture music.

What’s been your highlight so far?

My highlight was standing on stage after the last show, knowing that we had done it and succeeded, and that all of our members were pleased with their performances. The sheer emotion of watching our former Chairperson deliver his speech on stage was palpable. It was a great feeling.

What’s your advice for new students thinking about joining a society/club?

Don't be afraid! Get stuck in, and I promise you won't regret it! I never did!
