Steven Mitchell - BSc Hons Biomedical Science DPP (Pathology)
Hi, my name is Steven Mitchell and I am working as a Biomedical Science placement student in the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS). Laboratories across NI have been hit hard and the Transfusion Service is no exception. It's a great feeling to be a part of the NIBTS team, and help them as we try to do everything we can to meet the demand for vital transfusion products, particularly during this pandemic.
Kerry Anne Maguire - BSc Hons Biomedical Science DPP (Pathology)
My name is Kerry-Anne Maguire, I am a 3rd year Biomedical Science student currently on placement in Altnagelvin Hospital Microbiology Laboratory. I chose Ulster University as the degree program is IBMS accredited and provides the opportunity to complete a clinical placement within a hospital laboratory. This placement year is a fantastic opportunity that provides invaluable experience as well as the chance to complete my IBMS registration portfolio. Following registration and completion of my degree I hope to work in a hospital laboratory pursuing my career as a Biomedical Scientist.
Amanda Crawford - BSc Hons Biomedical Science DPP (Pathology)
My name is Amanda Crawford and I am a mature student studying Biomedical Science at Ulster University. I am currently in my placement year at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast within the Cellular Pathology Laboratory. Studying Biomedical Science is providing me with the knowledge and skills to build a successful career as a Biomedical Scientist. This year especially during the pandemic, I feel very proud to be part of the Belfast Team and celebrate ‘Biomedical Science Day’.
