Overview

I am a Technician correlated to the Textiles, Art, Design and Fashion Degree. I provide practical teaching and theory on screen printing, dyeing techniques and laser cutting technology across all year levels which is aligned to the overall teaching of the course. This will include taught group sessions, and one to one student tutorials tailored to a specific outcome.

The depth of knowledge I deliver, progresses from the basics of application and understanding in first year to achieving a proficient and sophisticated practice and appreciation of the subject when reaching final year. I graduated from the Ulster University, Belfast with a First Class Honors in Printed & Dyed Textiles, after which I gained a Masters in Printed Textiles from the Royal College of Art London and more recent, I was awarded an Associate Fellowship of HEA. I am also part of the Technician’s Steering Group, the Visibility and Recognition Group which realizes the potential of Technicians in the Education and Research sector.

I have been employed by the University for over twenty years. Firstly, on a part time basis as a Lecturer before gaining a full-time contract as a Technician, where my passion for practical teaching lies. Over the years, I have collaborated and consulted on research projects and film/series productions were my extensive specialist knowledge and experience has been utilized and gained successful student placement and employment in the industry.
