Overview

Myles is a Principal Economist at the Ulster University Economic Policy Centre (EPC).  Prior to joining the EPC in August 2023, Myles worked at DAERA and AFBI as a Senior Agricultural Economist.

His main research interest is in policy modelling, with 18 years of experience of delivering quantitative analyses using partial equilibrium models.  While at AFBI, as part of the FAPRI-UK project he undertook a wide-range of policy impact assessments, covering multiple Common Agricultural Policy reforms; trade agreements; Foot and Mouth Disease control strategies; and biofuel support policies.

Following his PhD on the spatial determinants of agricultural land prices he has a keen interest in spatial economics.  He has developed spatial economic growth models to analyse the interdependence between population and employment growth and a land use change model to analyse the multiple ecosystem services.
