Jason Elliott


Overview

Jason graduated from Ulster University in 2012 and was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2013. Jason practised at the Bar for eight years alongside part-time teaching commitments at Ulster University and Queen’s University, Belfast.

Jason graduated with distinction in 2019 from Ulster University’s LLM in International Commercial Law with Alternative Dispute Resolution and was appointed as a Lecturer-in-Law in the same year. Jason undertook the role of Placement Co-Ordinator in that year facilitating an increase in the number of placements within the School of Law.

In Summer 2020, Jason was appointed as Associate Head of School. Through that role he manages and leads on the educational provision within the School of Law. Through this role he has led on the marketing of undergraduate and postgraduate provision, curriculum design and redesign and student support strategies. As part of the role as Associate Head, Jason has been an active member on various Faculty and University wide Committees and Working Groups. Jason has also undertaken the role of Course Director for the undergraduate law provision in Jordanstown/Belfast in previous years.

Jason continues to retain a teaching load as Module Co-Ordinator for Equity and Trusts on the undergraduate law programme as well as contributing to the bespoke Advocacy module for final year undergraduate students.  From his days in practice, Jason also retains a keen interest in employment law and practice where he regularly delivers lectures, talks and training sessions on that area.

Jason is a Fellow of the HEA and has been recognised for his expertise in educational provision with his appointments as External Examiner to Leeds Beckett University and the University of Huddersfield. Jason also sits on the Board of Governors of The Wallace High School, Lisburn.
