Research
Dr Salvador Alvidrez is a communication scholar specialising in online interactions and virtual reality technology with over 10 years of experience in higher education.
He researches how online communication is shaped by group identities and cultural contexts across different platforms and virtual environments.
His research on using communication technologies for reducing intergroup prejudice has been published in high-ranked journals including Computers in Human Behavior and the International Journal of Communication, receiving recognition from the International Communication Association.
Between 2022-24, Dr Alvidrez secured £20,000 in research funding, including a £15,000 DfE grant for a Northern Ireland/Colombia VR peace-building project, and a €5,000 grant for a collaborative research project on VR with Sapienza University Rome.
Teaching
An Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, he has supervised over 35 undergraduate and graduate students and designed courses on emergent technologies and strategic communication for social media.
Beyond academia, Dr Alvidrez applies his expertise as UX Researcher, carrying out user studies, creating journey maps, and usability tests.
