Asriel Juvenal Chamos
Overview
AJ completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines in 2011. He moved to Northern Ireland and worked as a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. AJ is passionate about personal and professional development; hence, he completed a Master of Science in Advanced Professional Practice with a Critical and Acute Care pathway at Queen’s University Belfast. Furthermore, while in the Belfast Trust, AJ conducted teaching sessions on electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation. AJ holds a Diploma in ECG Interpretation from the Society for Cardiac Science and Technology (SCST).
In 2022, AJ took up a post as a Lecturer in Adult Nursing at Ulster University. He is currently the Year Head of the BSc Nursing (Adult) Cohort 2023 students. AJ teaches and contributes to modules focused on anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, research, and cardiovascular health assessment. AJ is also an instructor for Resuscitation UK’s Immediate Life Support (ILS).
AJ completed his Post-graduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice (PgCHEP) at Ulster University and was awarded the title Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) with Advance HE.
AJ is a member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) – Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (ACNAP). He is a National Contact for the ACNAP Young Community (YoCo) Committee and has been appointed a member of the Education Committee for 2024-2026.
AJ is a PhD researcher whose project is focused on a randomised controlled, mixed methods pilot study of a hybrid cardiac rehabilitation programme for people with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HYPRE-HFpEF).
