The European Sociological Association’s (ESA) Research Network on Sociology of Social Policy and Social Welfare (RN26) invites social scientists to submit abstracts to its Midterm Conference, taking place on September 19-20, 2025 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The conference is organised in cooperation with Ulster University and will be held over two days, featuring a mix of two plenary sessions, paper presentations, and opportunities for discussion and networking. It will provide an engaging and collegial platform for social scientists to share their work and exchange ideas.

We are delighted to announce that the conference will feature two distinguished plenary speakers: John Offer, Professor of Social Theory and Policy at Ulster University, and Ann Marie Gray, Professor of Social Policy at Ulster University and President of the Social Policy Association (the United Kingdom’s professional association for teachers, researchers, students and practitioners of social policy).
