Equality screening of new and revised policies

In fulfilling the University's obligations under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the University's Equality Scheme includes a commitment to consult on the implementation of new and revised policies, as defined by the Equality Commission NI, with regards to equality of opportunity and good relations.

The University recently consulted on the equality screening of new and revised policies, as defined by the Equality Commission (NI), for the period November 2024 to April 2025. The equality screening consultation exercise closed on Friday 8 August 2025. As a result of feedback received during this consultation the following have been reviewed:

  1. A Charter for Effective Participation and Communication between Solicitors and Litigants in Person in Northern Ireland: The Equality screening pro-forma has been reviewed and updated following a request to review elements of it
  2. Ulster University’s Draft Equality Scheme Action Plan

The next public consultation is scheduled for October 2025.
