Fair Employment Treatment Order

Under the Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 (FETO) and the Monitoring Regulations, Ulster University is required to monitor the community background and sex of its workforce and submit an annual monitoring return to the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI). Supplying this information on time is a legal obligation and helps to ensure fair employment practices are maintained.

Article 55

Under Article 55 of FETO, Ulster University also has a statutory duty to carry out a review of its employment composition and practices at least once every three years.

The purpose of the review is threefold, to:

  1. Determine whether members of each community are enjoying, and are likely to continue to enjoy, fair participation in employment,
  2. Ensure, where this does not appear to be the case, that the University determines affirmative action (if any) that would be reasonable and appropriate,
  3. Ensure, where affirmative action is determined that, where practicable, goals and timetables are set.

Reporting

The University submits its triannual Article 55 report to the ECNI.

In order to comply with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, we no longer publish our Article 55 Review Reports on our web page.

The Article 55 Review Report is available upon request from the EDI team.
