This cluster brings together research in the field of media and democracy. It seeks to connect researchers concerned with the following areas within media:
- Culture and the state
- Cultural institutions, their organisation and professional practices, and their relation to political processes.
- Representation and power
- Literacy and citizenship
The cluster encompasses research across a range of media forms and cultural practices including; news and journalism, film and television drama, documentary, popular culture and entertainment, media education
The impact of such research might be felt by non-governmental agencies, the community sector, professional associations and trade unions, educators, as well as politicians, parties and policy makers.
