The Ulster-Scots Poetry Project is based at the University of Ulster and was funded by the Ministerial Advisory Group for the Ulster-Scots Academy [MAGUS] (Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure).

The site contains over thirty collections of poems by some of the most significant traditional writers of Ulster-Scots poetry in the 19th and early 20th centuries. These collections are drawn from a number of major literary archives in Northern Ireland and demonstrate the breadth and depth of literary talent that existed in the Ulster-Scots tradition.

At its Coleraine campus, the University of Ulster is privileged to hold the John Hewitt Special Collection, the personal library of one of Northern Ireland's foremost poets, critics and collectors. This magnificent collection inspired us to seek out other significant collections of Ulster poetry, and to create a major amalgamation of the literary riches that Northern Ireland libraries have in Ulster-Scots writing.
