Overview

Brian works within the technical team for the School of Engineering. Focusing on mechatronics, electronics, and computing, he supports student learning environments, research facilities, office working spaces, and outreach projects.

He was able to study an undergraduate degree in Mechatronics, and a First Steps to Teaching course while in his role at Ulster due to the support of Continuing Professional Development by the university and his colleagues.

Brian is a keen supporter of outreach and student engagement – taking on course representative roles as a student and joining the committee of the Ulster Society of Student Engineers (USSE). He is also involved with supporting the growth of the Technician Commitment within the university:

“Technicians make it happen in our studios, labs and specialist teaching and research spaces. As a signatory to the national Technician Commitment, we’re committed to greater visibility, recognition, sustainability and career development for our technicians, and all technical staff in higher education and research.

Visit our webpages to find out more about our Action Plan, career development, news and events, and meet some our technicians at work in diverse subject areas.”
