A good Invention Disclosure should highlight a clearly identified unmet/un-served customer need or problem.

Following submission of the Invention Disclosure Form a member of the Innovation Services team will contact you to arrange a meeting where the next Phase of the process “Screening and Assessment will be explained and a timeframe for initiation and completion agreed.

A Creative Work may attract legal protection under UK copyright, design or trademark law. Copyright arises automatically and can be used to protect works such as:

  • original literary works (tables or compilations, computer software programs and databases)
  • dramatic works (dance or mime)
  • musical works (music exclusive of any words or actions)
  • artistic work (graphic works, photographs, sculptures, collages irrespective of artistic quality, works of architecture and works of artistic craftsmanship)
  • sound recordings
  • films
  • broadcasts
  • typographical arrangement of published editions

Design products can be protected by design rights for the appearance of the product and trade mark rights allow you to protect creative works such as names, logos, advertising jingles, slogans, shape of goods or packaging.
