What is a KTP?

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a government support programme that funds collaboration between academics/researchers, a highly skilled graduate and a company that needs their expertise.

A KTP is particularly valuable scheme to support REF impact as well as providing a valuable funding stream for further research and development projects.

There are a number of calls throughout the year.

Ulster University Success in KTPs

Ulster University has a highly successful track record in securing KTP funding. The success rate for proposals currently stands at over 95%, and helping our academics to develop high quality proposals is part of the service provided by the Research and Impact Office.

The KTP programme is a highly established programme and has been in operation for over 40 years. Ulster University has a strong track record in KTPs having managed in excess of 220 KTPs, ranking us as 6th out of over 100 knowledge providers across the UK.

Sector Calls and Timetable

From April 2017, Innovate UK will align its KTP funding into four key sector groups, plus an ‘open’ approach.
