If you believe that you have an idea that may have commercial potential you should ensure that the intellectual property is adequately protected before any public disclosure occurs.
Please note - public disclosure can include any of the following:
- a scientific publication
- a lecture
- an exhibition
- a poster
- a presentation or
- any other kind of public disclosure - anywhere in the world
If necessary the Innovation service team can file a provisional patent application that will offer you the necessary protection after any disclosure takes place.
We can also advise you on confidentiality agreements that should be put in place as you disseminate information about your idea.
Please contact Sinead Hunter – Intellectual Property Executive for further information / advice.
