Louise O'Boyle


Overview

Louise is Associate Dean (Academic Quality & Student Experience) in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.

She was formerly Head of Belfast School of Art and is a Principle Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; member of Ulster University Senate, previously elected Faculty Staff Representative (2021-2025) ; Expert Trustee in Learning & Teaching on CHEAD; Chair of the Group for Learning in Art and Design in Higher Education (GLADHE); and Professional Member of Institute of Designers Ireland.

Her research interests include investigating the role of the artist as social commentator, and the evolution of teaching and learning practices in art and design tertiary level education.
Louise has exhibited work and presented her research both nationally and internationally.

She has been commissioned by both private and public bodies to create a number of public artworks, complete research, feasibility studies, education, training and manage arts projects.

She has worked extensively in the community and schools sectors on a wide variety of projects and initiatives. Louise has received a number of awards both for her arts practice and pedagogic research.
