Dr Julie Sittlington
Overview
Dr Julie Sittlington graduated from Ulster University with a MSc in Human Nutrition in 1998 followed by a PhD in Human Nutrition in 2008. Holding a particular interest in sports nutrition she completed a MSc in Sports & Exercise Nutrition in 2016.
She has worked as a Research Associate within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) on a range of externally funded projects (1999-present) in a range of health and nutrition areas. Dr Sittlington is an active member of the ‘Obesity, energy balance and food choice’ research group. Since 2018, Dr Sittlington has led as Principal Investigator on a number of industry-led Clinical Device Trials, leading to FDA approval for the company devices that were designed to support health.
Dr Sittlington is the Core Technologies Officer within the Clinical Trials team and has managed the operational, day-to-day running of the Human Intervention Studies Unit, a bespoke unit specialising in human intervention trials, since 2014. This role involves industry engagement and collaboration.

Teaching Interests
Dr Sittlington contributes to teaching in Sports & Exercise Nutrition modules and manages the delivery, teaching and assessment of the NAP accredited Phlebotomy Course within Ulster University.
