Technician (Ceramics)
David McComiskey
Overview
David gained a degree in Contemporary applied arts specialising in Ceramics from Ulster university in 2016, before going to the DCCOI’s Ceramics skills and design course in Kilkenny where he graduated in 2018.
After completing a handful of residencies David worked as an independent potter and as a studio manager for the next 4 years before joining the University to take up the position of Ceramics technician in late 2022.
His workshop focus is mainly with the Design and Fine art BA courses, but welcomes students from all over the school at all levels too.
He continues to make work with a strong focus on functional pieces as well as research into glazes, including the use of local materials, building on his former studio pottery practice.
