Associate Head of Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics DUFE Partnership Manager
Christine Wightman is the Associate Head of Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics in the Ulster University Business School, with over 30 years’ experience in academia. Christine also holds the post of Senior Lecturer: Partnership Manager, responsible for managing Ulster programmes in China’s Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE).
Christine graduated with a BSc Hons Geography from Queen’s University (1989), an MBA from Ulster (1990), and a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching at Ulster University in 1997. She also obtained a Diploma in Marketing accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in 1994.
Christine is passionate about learning and teaching in Higher Education (HE) and her research has evolved from projects aimed at enhancing assessment and feedback in HE through the adoption of technology, to developing on-line learning environments and Communities of Practice in HE for the enhancement of digital technologies in learning and teaching.
She is an Active Learning Champion and holds Associate Membership of the Association of Learning Technologists. Recent research interests centre on developing employability skills, resilience and graduate outcomes of students in Higher Education, and underpins her current Doctoral thesis research at Queen’s University, Belfast.
Christine is a fellow of the University’s Centre for Higher Education Research and Practice (CHERP) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
