Dr Christine Wightman


Overview

Dr. Christine Wightman is a Senior Lecturer and the Associate Head of Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics in the Ulster University Business School, with over 30 years’ experience in academia. In addition, Christine holds the post of Partnership Manager, responsible for managing Ulster programmes in China’s Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE).

Christine graduated with a BSc Hons Geography from Queen’s University (1989), an MBA from Ulster (1990), and a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching at Ulster University in 1997. She also obtained a Diploma in Marketing accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in 1994. Recently Christine was awarded a Doctor of Education having completed research work on developing resilience in Higher Education students through curriculum embedded workshops.

Christine is passionate about learning and teaching in Higher Education (HE) and her research has evolved from projects aimed at enhancing assessment and feedback in HE through the adoption of technology, to developing on-line learning environments and Communities of Practice in HE for the enhancement of digital technologies in learning and teaching.

Recent research interests centre on developing employability skills, resilience and graduate outcomes of students in Higher Education, and underpins her Doctoral thesis research at Queen’s University, Belfast.

Christine is a fellow of the University’s Centre for Higher Education Research and Practice (CHERP) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
