The Access Diploma in Health, awarded by Ulster University, is delivered by the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, which is part of the College of Health. This programme focuses on the general ethics, professional and clinical aspects and practical tuition appropriate for practice-based, manual therapy programmes. The programme will give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to prepare for our Master of Chiropractic (MChiro) programme.

The Access Diploma in Health will give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to prepare you for the Master of Chiropractic (MChiro) programme.

How the programme is taught

The programme features four in-depth modules taught by experienced tutors. During the first term, you will take an Academic English module, together with Human Biology, both of which form the foundation of the programme.
In the second term, you will continue to study Human Biology. You will also go on to study General Science relevant to your later healthcare learning, and a Clinical and Professional Practice module.

Assessments and Examinations

The programme features a variety of assessments including coursework and examinations.

Coursework is in the form of essays, reports or case studies, while group or individual presentations may be required to assess other competencies.

Examinations will be with written elements or multiple-choice questions and maybe unseen or part-seen, where assessment material is released in advance.

The programme offers flexibility in how these assessments are undertaken, and the programmes will utilise online tools where appropriate to deliver assessments. Some assessments may require attendance at a physical location.

Duration

  • Six-months part-time with flexible delivery options (UK/EU students only)
  • One-year, full-time (international students)

Academic Modules

The scientific content covers biological systems, environmental influences and a foundation in chemistry, physics and maths. Palpation skills and professionalism are taught predominantly in practical workshops to encourage interactive and hands-on learning.

Employability

Once you have successfully completed the Access Diploma in Health you can progress on to the Master of Chiropractic (MChiro).

Entry Requirements

You must be 18 years or over on commencement of the programme

  • IELTS score of 6.0 (with no unit less than 5.5)
