In January 2024, we welcomed Ulster University graduate and Honorary Graduate, Dr Tommy Bowe, to our Belfast campus. Tommy kindly took time out of his busy schedule to speak to our 25@25 cohort about innovation.

Tommy has navigated a successful and varied career, from completing his undergrad at UU in Construction, Engineering and Management, to becoming a professional rugby player with Ulster, Ireland and two British & Irish Lions tours, and now as presenter of Ireland AM and running a thriving clothes and shoe brand.

Tommy spoke open and honestly with the group about overcoming criticism, looking for new and innovative ideas and ensuring you are prepared for the next steps on your journey, including the importance of pushing yourself outside your comfort zones.

Special congratulations to graduate and 25@25 candidate, Gavin Nelson, who stepped outside his own comfort zone to interview Tommy very successfully.
