Established in memory of Ulster University alumnus Liam Kelly (LLB), the Liam Kelly Scholarship in Law is available to students enrolled on both undergraduate and postgraduate Law courses at the University.

Applicants must be mature, part-time students who come from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds and who have completed the first year of their degrees.

Liam Kelly Scholarship Application

This scholarship is now open for applications for 2026 and will close on 30th September 2026.

Eligibility criteria

This is a competitive process and will be administered by the School of Law.  Applicants must meet the University’s criteria for both of the following:

  • Be classed as a mature student (21-years or over);
  • Be recognised as coming from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background;
  • Have completed the first year of their programme of study.

The application and selection process will be administered by the School of Law. The selection criteria are as follows:

  • Academic excellence;
  • Demonstration of a commitment to their studies;
  • Description of how the scholarship will potentially impact on their studies and on their chosen career path.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend a selection panel meeting for interview.
