Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (2019 - 2022)
The University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy provides a framework for the delivery of EDI, in support of the University’s 5&50 Strategic Plan, the wider People and Culture Strategy and the University’s Equality Scheme.
Further to statutory requirements relating to policy development, the EDI Strategy places diversity and inclusion at the heart of our culture, supporting us in our endeavours to reflect the society we serve, and providing a barometer for excellence.

The University outlines its commitment to delivering disability equality within its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
Our Third Disability Action Plan (DAP) takes into consideration the recommendations of the six-year review of effectiveness of the second DAP (as below).
It sets out how we will encourage positive attitudes towards disabled people and encourage their participation in University/Public life, through a series of cross-functional, new and unique actions.
Six year review of the University's Disability Action Plan
The University completed its six year review of the effectiveness of it second disability action plan in 2019.
This review incorporates the results of the three 'Attitudes towards disability' surveys for:
These surveys were carried out in December 2017 using modified survey questionnaires which were used in 2011 to inform the 2012 Review of Effectiveness of the University's first Disability Action Plan.
This enabled direct comparisons to be made and provided an indicator of changes in attitudes towards disabled people.

The Tenth Article 55 Review covers the period of 7 February 2016 – 6 February 2019.
