A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland, David enjoyed a distinguished career with PwC, where he served as Partner for over two decades, leading on Corporate Finance and Strategy services. In the final two years before his early retirement in 2014, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer for PwC in Northern Ireland, steering the firm's growth strategy and supporting major transformation projects.

Since stepping back from professional life, David has dedicated his time to the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors, championing causes in education, healthcare, and social inclusion. His work has had a lasting impact on some of the most economically and socially marginalised communities in the region.

David’s longstanding contribution to Ulster University as Honorary Treasurer has been instrumental in guiding the institution’s financial governance and long-term strategic direction.

David is married with three children and is a passionate advocate for using business skills to drive positive change in society.

Speaking at today’s graduation ceremony, David Clements said:

“It is a tremendous honour to receive this recognition from Ulster University. Serving as Honorary Treasurer has been a privilege, and I’ve been continually inspired by the University’s ambition, resilience and transformative role across Northern Ireland. To see that dedication acknowledged with the title of Times Higher Education University of the Year is a true testament to the impact Ulster is making. I’m proud to have played a small part in its journey and hope this award encourages others to give back and help shape institutions that are changing lives and communities for the better.”
