About the programme

The Applied Health Studies programme aims to provide flexible, inclusive and engaging distance learning educational opportunities to students who are keen to succeed in today's challenging health and social care environment. This programme is fully online, part-time and offered at BSc (Hons), PG Cert, PG Dip or MSc level aimed at producing graduates who will excel in their chosen professional career. The programme aims to support the development of action focused and enabled students who will be able to integrate the knowledge and theory they engage with on the programme into responsible health and social care activities within their workplace environment. In doing so the graduates will not only improve services where they work but will also act as mentors for others who wish to do the same.

Under the University's 'Qualifications and Credit Framework', the achievement of an Honours degree requires the successful completion of 360 credits of study at levels 4, 5 and 6. In regard to this programme, students enter the programme at level 6 having gained exemption for level 4 and 5 modules through the University's 'Accreditation of Prior Learning' policy when both prior certificated and experiential learning will be accepted in consideration of exemption. Where exemption is obtained for levels 4 and 5 modules, the BSc (Hons) programme would normally be completed over four semesters.
