Microsoft Teams (also known as MS Teams or Teams) is a secure Office 365 collaboration tool that helps teams stay organised and connected, bringing conversations and content together in one place.
MS Teams integrates directly with Office 365 applications such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Planner making it easy for staff to communicate and collaborate securely wherever they are.
Staff and Students are enabled for MS Teams Meetings. Please refer to Best Practice tips for Virtual Meetings.
MS Teams functionality update 17th May 2022
In preparation for migration from Skype for Business to MS Teams later in the year, Audio Conferencing will be added to allow meeting participants to join your meeting directly by phone. The information will be automatically added to any Microsoft Teams meetings created from the 17th May 2022. Chat and internal voice calling within Microsoft Teams will also be added at this time.
Please note: All enterprise voice calls (i.e. making and receiving external calls) will remain in Skype for Business for now. At present desk phones only work with Skype for Business. If you have device requirements, please contact the Unified Communications Team directly +442870124110 or email@example.com.

Currently you can use Skype for Business (SfB) for meetings, however once Teams has been enabled for staff, you will be able to schedule meetings using either SfB or Teams through your Outlook calendar. No matter which application you use, please refer to the Best Practice tips for Virtual Meetings.
Meetings in Teams can be audio or video conference sessions that allow people to connect from any device.
Organise a meeting with specific attendees
You can Schedule a Teams Meeting from Outlook in a similar way as you would schedule a Skype for Business meeting.
Or you can open MS Teams and:
- Click Calendar in the left menu in Teams
- + New Meeting button
- Add Title, attendees, time etc
- You can add a channel now or later
- Save to send out invites to attendees and put the meeting in your calendar
You can Manage your meetings through your calendar and start the meeting, by clicking on it from your Calendar in either Teams or Outlook.
Microsoft have created a Teams interactive demo, which you can use to get a feel for what Teams is like before you start using the programme.
Note that your own MS Teams interface may look slightly different as Microsoft are continually updating the platform.
Digital Services aim to roll out MS Teams functionality as soon as possible.
