Service Description

Digital Services have implemented a video conference recording service to facilitate recording of video conferences on any of the University's campuses.

These recorded conferences can then be produced and archived on the server, and distributed as streaming video to staff, students and the wider population as required.

The Cisco content server can record meetings, presentations to camera, in-class lectures and associated peripherals such as computer or laptop inputs, which can all add to the media-richness of a recorded session.

Recordings are captured on the content server by ICTCS staff and the link to the final production is then mailed to the person who requested the recording.

Content can be viewed online, and the system is linked to the University's Active Directory for authentication. Content links can also be embedded within Blackboard, students can access recordings using their normal network credentials.

Access to the content can also be granted to a wider audience at the discretion of the client, and recordings can be converted to a downloadable format upon request.

The service is based on the implementation of the 2009/10 stage of the overall SUCCINCT video-conference service plan to introduce a capture and streaming service. <

Business Process

Recordings can be requested at the time of booking a video conference, using the conference booking procedure found from Room Bookings .

The system is fully automated, so recordings will be made remotely, while camera set-up and associated peripheral inputs will be configured for you in advance of the conference.

These actions will help to ensure minimal intrusion on conferences, leaving participants to focus on their meeting, rather than concerning themselves with the technology.

Conference participants can use the video conference remote controls to change camera angles, switch to their laptop or use the document camera at appropriate points in the proceedings where necessary.
