Overview

The aim of this session is to provide supervisors with an overview of Library services and resources available to support PhD Researchers. By the end of the session the audience will know more about the specialist support the Librarian teams across the campuses can offer, be aware of the Library services available to support PhD Researchers such as SCONUL Access and Library Link: CONUL Access Scheme and have a greater understanding of the Library resources available to PhD Researchers including subject specific databases, Special Collections and RefWorks. Support for open access including the Open Access publisher agreements and the UKRI block grant will also be covered, including open access requirements for PhD thesis.

Intended Audience

This workshop is open to all PhD Supervisors who would like to support their PhD Researcher in writing the thesis. It is also open to those who wish to be appointed as PhD supervisors at Ulster.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Understand how the different teams in the Library support Doctoral students
  • Know where to look for updates on Library workshops and events for Doctoral students
  • Be aware of the range of Library services and resources available to support Doctoral students as well as support for Open Access publishing.
