Dr Sharon McClements


Overview

Sharon has a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, PhD in Construction Management and Chartered Surveyor.  She was awarded the Association of Project Managers ‘Herbert Walton - Excellence Award’ for her PhD thesis. Sharon has published around 20 publications, presenting her research, internationally, on Infrastructure investment, Building Information Modelling and Collaboration and Trust, Construction Contracts and Education. Sharon is author of the Isurv Infrastructure channel, expert reviewer and for international peer review journals and is an expert reviewer for RICS Education Trust Grant.

Sharon is currently involved in number of research activities including lead investigator into the Critical Success Factors of PPP projects in Northern, involving high level collaboration with Northern Ireland Government Departments and Agencies.  She is currently involved in a research grant aimed at investigating drivers and barriers of BIM implementation in Northern Ireland and she has developed an Infrastructure Investment Track for the international ARCOM conference in 2018. Within her research she has supervised PhD studentships in PPP Stakeholder collaboration.

Sharon was recently appointed Non-Executive Board member for RICS Northern Ireland, which compliments her other RICS activities of APC Chair, Assessor and Counsellor. Sharon regularly manages and delivers professional consultancy services to industry. Sharon also is engaged as an External Examiner and has been appointed to external review panels for programme validations.

As a Senior Fellow of the HEA, Sharon delivers a strong focus on teaching that develops the research-teaching nexus, enhances the student experience and develops student professional identity. Sharon is also Mentor on the UU Enhance Scheme.
