Mike O'Callaghan


Overview

Mike is a lecturer in animation on the undergraduate and MA Animation courses.

Mike holds a BA and an MA in Computer games art.

Over the years Mike has been involved as a 3D artist in the production of several successful TV shows. contributing to two multi-award-winning Disney TV series, 'Doc McStuffins' and 'Henry Hugglemonster', as well as the successful 'Octonauts' and later playing a significant role in the development of 'Go Jetters' for the BBC. He has also been involved with several other projects including the Danger Mouse revival, the multi-award-winning short film 'Geist' and the YouTube series “Sherwood.”

Later Mike started his own Animation business in Derry Northern Ireland named “Oaken Studios” where he worked for several years with clients including Lego and HBO as well as several local clients before refocusing on teaching and research.

Mikes research interests include Virtual reality storytelling and surreal animation.
