Dr Ananyaa Sridhar


Overview

Dr Ananyaa Sridhar holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biotechnology from SASTRA University, India, where she was awarded the Desh-Videsh Scholarship to conduct her dissertation on dopamine's role in islet cell function at Ulster University. Following this, she received a Vice Chancellor's Research Scholarship (VCRS) and completed her PhD in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Ulster University. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, demonstrating her dedication to advancing teaching and research in higher education.

Currently, Dr Sridhar is a Research Associate in Diabetes within the School of Biomedical Sciences, working alongside Dr Charlotte Moffett on a Diabetes UK-funded project titled “Elucidating the Role of Gut Hormones in Infertility Associated with Diabetes, Obesity, and PCOS.” Her contributions to understanding the effects of gastric bypass surgery on islet and enteroendocrine cell function have been significant. Her research also encompasses hybrid peptides and therapeutics to support reproductive health in both women and men. Additionally, Dr Sridhar’s work extends into the areas of endometrial cancer and the development of natural anti-diabetic peptides.

Dr Sridhar is an active member of several professional societies and academic committees, contributing her expertise to the broader scientific community.
