Kainos and Ulster University have strengthened their long-standing partnership through the delivery of a bespoke executive education programme designed to enhance strategic leadership capability across the organisation’s senior management team.
Delivered by the Ulster University Business School, the three-day strategic thinking programme brought together 24 senior leaders from Kainos, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and C-suite executives, to explore approaches to strategic decision-making in a complex global business environment.
The programme was led by Nancy Brown, Senior Lecturer in Management Development and Programme Director for MSc Executive Leadership at Ulster University Business School, and builds on the successful collaboration between the University and Kainos through the Inspiring Leaders Executive Leadership programme.
Designed in close collaboration with Kainos stakeholders, the programme combined contemporary strategic management theory with practical application, ensuring the content aligned with the company’s organisational priorities and future growth ambitions.
Throughout the programme, participants explored recognised strategic frameworks and applied them to real-world organisational challenges facing Kainos. The initiative also encouraged cross-functional collaboration, enabling leaders from different business areas to examine opportunities for strategic alignment and organisational development.
Nancy Brown said:
“This collaboration with Kainos exemplifies how tailored, research-informed learning experiences can create real strategic value for leaders operating in fast-paced and complex environments.
“At Ulster University Business School, we are committed to developing executive education programmes that combine academic rigour with practical relevance, helping organisations build leadership capability and respond effectively to evolving industry challenges.”
Feedback from Kainos highlighted the value of applying this integrated learning model and reinforced the strength of the ongoing partnership with the Business School.
The programme reflects Ulster University’s continued commitment to supporting industry through executive education, innovation and knowledge exchange, while fostering long-term partnerships with leading employers across Northern Ireland and beyond.
By creating space for strategic reflection and collaborative learning, the initiative demonstrates how universities and industry can work together to support leadership development, organisational resilience and future-focused growth.
