ARINS provides evidence-based research and analysis on the most significant questions of policy and public debate facing the island of Ireland, north and south. Prof Fidelma Ashe features in episode 12 which considers popular participation in constitutional discussion.

Recent developments in constitutional theory have focused on participatory and deliberative constitutionalism. Popular participation in constitutional discussion is at once a normative commitment, a practical policy and a legal right. In episode 12, Joanne McEvoy (University of Aberdeen) and Fidelma Ashe (Ulster University) explore the ways in which including and encouraging popular engagement can not only enrich constitutional discussion but critically can shape constitutional change.
