A team of Gender, Conflict and Human Rights LLM students, working with Dr Catherine O'Rourke, have submitted a response to the consultation 'A new legal framework for abortion services in Northern Ireland'. The response is a collaborative effort by  Marianna Espinós Blasco, Katie Capstick, Zorg Madi, Dr Catherine O’Rourke, Yah Vallah Parwon, and Nicholas Pugh.

This submission focuses on the issue of CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) compliance and ensuring that any new framework for abortion services in Northern Ireland is compliant with CEDAW, both in terms of the CEDAW Committee’s specific recommendations to the UK government in its inquiry report, but also in terms of the principles the Committee has established more broadly concerning legal obligations on all state parties under the Convention.
