Overview

Shirley MacWilliam is an artist and writer, and Associate Lecturer in sculpture and lens, fine art. Her practice and writing explore performance, site, language, sound, technological and temporary public art, and interdisciplinarity. She studied in Sheffield City Polytechnic and The Slade School of Art and was a Cheltenham Sculpture Fellow and Momart Fellow in Tate Gallery Liverpool.

She has been commissioned by Southern health and Social Care Trust (Northern Ireland), Surrey County Arts/National Trust, Visual Art Projects (Glasgow), Harris Museum and Art Gallery, BAA Art Programme (Heathrow) and Public Art Development Trust, Space Explorations (London) and Living Art Projects (Dublin).

Her writing has been supported by An Chomhairle Ealaion and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and is published in magazines, journals, catalogues and books.
