British Chambers of Commerce Planning & City Resilience Scholarship

Funded by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and supported by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), this Scholarship will contribute £5,000 towards the tuition fees for one student enrolled full-time on the MSc Planning and City Resilience Masters Programme, commencing autumn 2026.

In return, at the end of their course of study, the recipient would be expected to work in a UK local council planning role for at least two years.

Applications for this year's Scholarship are now open and will close on Friday 11 September 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible after this date and before the start of the academic year.

Scholarship Fund Eligibility

To be considered for the British Chambers of Commerce Planning & City Resilience Scholarship applicants must:

• Have applied or intend to apply for admission to the MSc Planning and City Resilience Programme at Ulster University, commencing autumn 2026.  The Scholarship is open to ‘Home / GB’ students,  i.e. UK-domiciled with 'Home / GB' fee status.

Scholarship Fund Criteria

When completing the application form, applicants must:

• Describe academic and other relevant achievements / results;
• Demonstrate the potential impact of the Scholarship on their academic studies and future career;
• Demonstrate commitment to building a career in planning;
• Declare commitment to completing the Ulster University Masters in Planning and City Resilience.

Please note

If you are provisionally selected to receive a Scholarship, the University will contact the referee you have specified.  You will also be asked to provide proof of your home address, e.g. a utility bill or a copy of your driving licence. Scholarships will only be confirmed once both a satisfactory reference and evidence of your home address have been received.

The information that you provide in the Personal Statements sections of this application form will be used as the basis for selection by the Scholarship Selection Panel, so please include as much information as possible within the word limit (i.e. academic and other relevant achievements / results, potential impact of the Scholarship on your studies, and future career aspirations).
